Hi Guys,
I've recently lost my job and am seriously struggling to make ends meet. How do i approach my landlord about this? Is there a right way to go about it?
Any advice would be valued at this stage, my kids have gone to live with their mum for the time being while i try to get things sorted.

Hi Stuart,
Really sorry to hear about your current situ, have you tried contacting Shelter? They were really good at offering support and advice when i was in a similar situation. I'll try to find some other sites that might be helpful, it's difficult as the support out there is all over the place would make people lives much easier if it was all centralised.
I'd write an email to my landlord explaining whats happing regarding work and see if he can give you a month to sort yourself out

Hi Stuart, Please, please don't fret, there are a number of support and advice services out there! I know how hard it is nowadays for tenants especially, I would never kick my tenants out in a situation like yours, stay strong! Jackie

This happened to me in January, my landlord was really really supportive and helped me throughout the whole process - don't think i'll ever move again until I am able to purchase my own. If your landlord is not helpful or understanding i'd probably start making plans to move on - there is so much support out there but it's really all over the place if I'm honest, just remember your not alone, this forum seems like the right place to find some support in times like this! Let us know how you're getting on

Hi guys, great forum, my dh has just been made redundant and is the sole breadwinner. What are our options at this point, haven't spoken to landlord as yet just because we're unsure of the right approach. Reading the past comments i know its the best thing to do by telling her but he's actively looking for employment and we don't want to worry her too soon.
Cheers, SHE
